OneSentenceDay
Privacy Policy
Last updated 29 August 2026
OneSentenceDay ("we", "us") is a journaling app that lets you save one sentence a day. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. We collect only what we need to run the app.
Information we collect
- Account - your email address and a password (stored only as a secure hash by our authentication provider).
- Your name - optional, only if you add it in Settings. Used as the byline on a journal export you choose to create.
- Your content - the sentences you write and their dates. This is private to your account.
- Reminder settings - your chosen reminder time, your device time zone (so the reminder fires at the right local time), and a push notification token used to deliver the reminder.
We do not collect analytics, advertising identifiers, or location data.
Voice input (speech-to-text)
The app has an optional microphone button that lets you speak your sentence instead of typing it. It listens only while you have switched it on, and typing always works instead.
- We never receive your audio. Speech is transcribed by your device's own speech recognition service (on Android this is normally Google's). Only the resulting text is placed in the entry box, and it becomes an entry only if you choose to save it.
- Depending on your device and its settings, that service may transcribe on the device or send the audio to its provider, under that provider's own privacy policy. That processing happens outside OneSentenceDay and we have no access to it.
- We do not record, store, or transmit audio, and the app does not use the microphone at any other time.
- The app asks for microphone permission the first time you use the button. You can decline it, or revoke it later in your device settings, and everything else in the app keeps working.
How we use your information
- To provide the app: store and sync your entries, track your streak, and show your "on this day" memories.
- To send the daily reminder you opted into.
- To create a journal export (e.g. a PDF or book) if you request one.
- To secure accounts and respond to support requests.
Service providers
We share data only with the providers that run the service, and only as needed:
- Supabase - database, authentication, and hosting (stores your account and entries).
- Expo & Google Firebase Cloud Messaging - delivery of push notifications.
- Resend - sending transactional emails (sign-up confirmation and password reset codes).
We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
Data retention & deletion
We keep your data until you delete it. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time in the app (Settings → Delete account), or by emailing us - see our account deletion page. Deletion is permanent and removes your account, entries, streaks, reminder settings, and name.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and access is restricted so that you can only read and write your own entries.
Children
OneSentenceDay is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. You can do most of this in the app, or contact us for help.
Changes
We may update this policy; we'll revise the "last updated" date above and, for material changes, notify you in the app.
